Einhorn vs the Daily Mail

Hours (well minutes) of fun courtesy of the EU.

It’s the new disclosure regime for short selling, which involves the FSA publishing a list of the most shorted stocks in the UK.

(As it happens the rules are pretty onerous – short sellers must notify the market when a net short position reaches 0.5 per cent of the issued share capital of the company concerned and again at each 0.1 per cent increment after that).

Anyway, here is the top 1o. (click to englarge).

Yep that’s Mr Einhorn (of Punch Taverns fame) shorting the publisher of the Daily Mail.

Now, short selling hedge fund managers don’t often feature in the British tabloids but when they do

… it’s always fun.
